OR5BS1P Gene

HGNC Family G protein-coupled receptors
Name olfactory receptor, family 5, subfamily BS, member 1 pseudogene
Description Olfactory receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, to initiate a neuronal response that triggers the perception of a smell. The olfactory receptor proteins are members of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) arising from single coding-exon genes. Olfactory receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and are responsible for the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Instead, two major research themes emerge. The first theme examines the AAA+ ATPase torsinA and its interactions with transmembrane proteins of the nuclear envelope and endoplasmic reticulum. These studies reveal that torsinA interacts with LAP1 and LULL1 to regulate its localization between the endoplasmic reticulum and the inner nuclear membrane, with implications for nuclear envelope integrity and the pathogenesis of DYT1 dystonia."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n \nIn a second theme, the interferon alpha-responsive gene Ifrg15 is explored in the context of craniofacial development and odontogenesis.
