Specifically, TMPRSS11B cleaves the membrane‐bound receptor Basigin—a critical chaperone for the lactate transporter MCT4—thereby promoting the solubilization of Basigin. This event facilitates lactate export and drives a reprogramming of cellular metabolism towards increased glycolytic flux, which is a hallmark of cancer metabolism.
