{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nRecent studies have identified the tRNA methyltransferase TRMT9B (also known as hTRM9L or KIAA1456) as a key regulator of cancer cell growth through its role in modifying tRNA and thereby controlling translation. In several carcinomas, including those of the breast, bladder, colorectal, cervix, and testis, loss of TRMT9B expression correlates with tumor progression. Re-expression of TRMT9B in colon carcinoma cells was shown to dramatically suppress tumor growth in vivo by reducing proliferation, inducing a senescence-like G0/G1 arrest, and up-regulating the RB-interacting protein LIN9.
