On one hand, CEP162 is pre‐tethered at the distal ends of centrioles, where it “recognizes” the axoneme by directly binding to microtubules and recruiting core transition zone components. In this location, it promotes the assembly of the ciliary transition zone—a key structure that forms a selective barrier at the base of the primary cilium.
