Recent findings indicate that deletion of GOLGA2P2Y occurs at comparable frequencies in both oligozoospermic and normozoospermic men, suggesting that loss of this copy is not significantly associated with decreased sperm concentration or motility. In contrast, deletion of its paralogue, GOLGA2P3Y, is linked to reduced sperm parameters and an increased susceptibility to oligozoospermia, particularly in individuals with gr/gr rearrangements.
