In intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, increased expression of MISP is associated with enhanced trans-lymphatic migration, altered focal adhesion dynamics, and disruption of adherens junctions through the suppression of E-cadherin dimerization, contributing to tumor cell proliferation and invasiveness. Similarly, in gastric cancer, MISP is overexpressed relative to normal mucosa and its expression is linked with the intestinal phenotype, while its depletion leads to reduced cell viability.
