Functionally, PWWP2B acts as a nuclear responder to DNA double-strand breaks where it is promptly recruited to damage sites via its interaction with UHRF1. There, PWWP2B physically interacts with MRE11 and facilitates homologous recombination by promoting DNA end-resection and proper formation of RAD51 foci.
