Elevated SKA1 levels have been observed in diverse malignancies—including prostate, gastric, bladder, hepatocellular, lung, pancreatic, esophageal, renal, and laryngocarcinomas—wherein overexpression is correlated with enhanced cell proliferation, migration, invasion, centrosome amplification, and resistance to chemotherapeutic agents (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22).
