SDS Geneserine dehydratase This gene encodes one of three enzymes that are involved in metabolizing serine and glycine. L-serine dehydratase converts L-serine to pyruvate and ammonia and requires pyridoxal phosphate as a cofactor. The encoded protein can also metabolize threonine to NH4+ and 2-ketobutyrate. The encoded protein is found predominantly in the liver. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
ALAD Geneaminolevulinate dehydratase The ALAD enzyme is composed of 8 identical subunits and catalyzes the condensation of 2 molecules of delta-aminolevulinate to form porphobilinogen (a precursor of heme, cytochromes and other hemoproteins). ALAD catalyzes the second step in the porphyrin and heme biosynthetic pathway; zinc is essential for enzymatic activity. ALAD enzymatic activity is inhibited by lead and a defect in the ALAD structural gene can cause increased sensitivity to lead poisoning and acute hepatic porphyria. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015] |
GMDS GeneGDP-mannose 4,6-dehydratase GDP-mannose 4,6-dehydratase (GMD; EC 4.2.1.47) catalyzes the conversion of GDP-mannose to GDP-4-keto-6-deoxymannose, the first step in the synthesis of GDP-fucose from GDP-mannose, using NADP+ as a cofactor. The second and third steps of the pathway are catalyzed by a single enzyme, GDP-keto-6-deoxymannose 3,5-epimerase, 4-reductase, designated FX in humans (MIM 137020).[supplied by OMIM, Aug 2009] |
SDSL Geneserine dehydratase-like Enables L-serine ammonia-lyase activity; identical protein binding activity; and threonine deaminase activity. Predicted to be involved in L-serine catabolic process; isoleucine biosynthetic process; and threonine catabolic process. Predicted to be located in cytosol. HACD3 Gene3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydratase 3 Enables enzyme binding activity and very-long-chain (3R)-3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydratase activity. Involved in fatty acid biosynthetic process; positive regulation by virus of viral protein levels in host cell; and positive regulation of viral genome replication. Located in endoplasmic reticulum and nuclear membrane. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
HACD2 Gene3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydratase 2 The protein encoded by this gene can catalyze the third step (dehydration) in the conversion of long chain fatty acids to very long chain fatty acids. The encoded protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016] |
HACD4 Gene3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydratase 4 Enables enzyme binding activity and very-long-chain (3R)-3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydratase activity. Involved in fatty acid elongation and very long-chain fatty acid biosynthetic process. Located in endoplasmic reticulum. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
L3HYPDH GeneL-3-hydroxyproline dehydratase (trans-) The protein encoded by this gene is a dehydratase that converts trans-3-hydroxy-L-proline to delta(1)-pyrroline-2-carboxylate. This enzyme may function to degrade dietary proteins that contain trans-3-hydroxy-L-proline as well as other proteins such as collagen IV. The encoded protein can be converted to an epimerase by changing a threonine to a cysteine at a catalytic site. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2016] |
HACD1 Gene3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydratase 1 The protein encoded by this gene contains a characteristic catalytic motif of the protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) family. The PTP motif of this protein has the highly conserved arginine residue replaced by a proline residue; thus it may represent a distinct class of PTPs. Members of the PTP family are known to be signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes. This gene was preferentially expressed in both adult and fetal heart. A much lower expression level was detected in skeletal and smooth muscle tissues, and no expression was observed in other tissues. The tissue specific expression in the developing and adult heart suggests a role in regulating cardiac development and differentiation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
TGDS GeneTDP-glucose 4,6-dehydratase The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) superfamily, and is thought to contain a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) binding domain. This large SDR family of enzymes is involved in the metabolism of a variety of compounds, including prostaglandins, retinoids, lipids, steroid hormones, and xenobiotics. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Catel-Manzke syndrome, which is characterized by Pierre Robin sequence, and radial deviation of the index finger due to the presence of an accessory bone between the index finger and its proximal phalanx. Pierre Robin sequence is defined by an undersized jaw, backwards displacement of the tongue base that causes an obstruction of the airways, and can also be associated with a cleft palate. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2015] |
NAXD GeneNAD(P)HX dehydratase Enables ATP-dependent NAD(P)H-hydrate dehydratase activity. Predicted to be involved in metabolite repair. Located in mitochondrion. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
HTD2 Genehydroxyacyl-thioester dehydratase type 2 This gene encodes a protein that localizes to the mitochondria and can function as a 3-hydroxyacyl thioester dehydratase. This gene is located just downstream of the gene for ribonuclease P/MRP subunit p14 (RPP14) in a genomic context that is conserved among animals. The upstream RPP14 gene is thought to be co-transcribed with this gene, and bicistronic transcripts may include open reading frames for both proteins. [provided by RefSeq, May 2017] |
