PLA2G16 Genephospholipase A2, group XVI Enables N-acyltransferase activity; lipid binding activity; and phospholipase activity. Involved in N-acylphosphatidylethanolamine metabolic process. Predicted to be located in several cellular components, including lysosome; nuclear envelope; and peroxisome. Predicted to be active in cytoplasm. Biomarker of seminoma. MYO16 Genemyosin XVI This gene encodes an unconventional myosin protein. The encoded protein has been proposed to act as a serine/threonine phosphatase-1 targeting or regulatory subunit. Studies in a rat cell line suggest that this protein may regulate cell cycle progression. A variant within this gene may be associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia and elevated expression of this gene has been observed in the frontal cortex of human schizophrenia patients. COL16A1 Genecollagen, type XVI, alpha 1 This gene encodes the alpha chain of type XVI collagen, a member of the FACIT collagen family (fibril-associated collagens with interrupted helices). Members of this collagen family are found in association with fibril-forming collagens such as type I and II, and serve to maintain the integrity of the extracellular matrix. High levels of type XVI collagen have been found in fibroblasts and keratinocytes, and in smooth muscle and amnion. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
SYT16 Genesynaptotagmin XVI Predicted to enable phospholipid binding activity. Predicted to be located in membrane. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
