PKHD1L1 Genepolycystic kidney and hepatic disease 1 (autosomal recessive)-like 1 Predicted to enable signaling receptor activity. Predicted to be involved in immune response. Predicted to act upstream of or within sensory perception of sound. Predicted to be located in cytosol; extracellular space; and membrane. Implicated in autosomal recessive nonsyndromic deafness. HEPACAM Genehepatic and glial cell adhesion molecule The protein encoded by this gene is a single-pass type I membrane protein that localizes to the cytoplasmic side of the cell membrane. The encoded protein acts as a homodimer and is involved in cell motility and cell-matrix interactions. The expression of this gene is downregulated or undetectable in many cancer cell lines, so this may be a tumor suppressor gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2011] |
SM2 GeneHepatic fibrosis susceptibility due to Schistosoma mansoni infection |
HLFP1 Genehepatic leukemia factor pseudogene 1 |
HLF Genehepatic leukemia factor This gene encodes a member of the proline and acidic-rich (PAR) protein family, a subset of the bZIP transcription factors. The encoded protein forms homodimers or heterodimers with other PAR family members and binds sequence-specific promoter elements to activate transcription. Chromosomal translocations fusing portions of this gene with the E2A gene cause a subset of childhood B-lineage acute lymphoid leukemias. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, but their biological validity has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
LIPC Genelipase, hepatic Enables phospholipase A1 activity and triacylglycerol lipase activity. Involved in several processes, including cholesterol homeostasis; plasma lipoprotein particle remodeling; and triglyceride catabolic process. Located in extracellular space. Implicated in several diseases, including Alzheimer's disease; coronary artery disease; familial combined hyperlipidemia; peripheral vascular disease; and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Biomarker of hyperinsulinism; obesity; and type 1 diabetes mellitus. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
PKHD1 Genepolycystic kidney and hepatic disease 1 (autosomal recessive) The protein encoded by this gene is predicted to have a single transmembrane (TM)-spanning domain and multiple copies of an immunoglobulin-like plexin-transcription-factor domain. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Other alternatively spliced transcripts have been described, but the full length sequences have not been determined. Several of these transcripts are predicted to encode truncated products which lack the TM and may be secreted. Mutations in this gene cause autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease, also known as polycystic kidney and hepatic disease-1. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |

CLLU1 Genechronic lymphocytic leukemia up-regulated 1 Expression of this gene has been shown to be upregulated in some individuals with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and has been used for prognostic and diagnostic purposes. This gene was originally identified as a human-specific putative protein-coding gene due to the presence of a peptide (PAp00140670, HIIYSTFLSK) that could have supported translation at this locus. This peptide is not present in more recent builds of PeptideAtlas, and the presence of a protein product at this locus has not been independently verified. For this reason, this gene is being represented as non-coding. Sequence comparisons to other primates indicates that no other primate is predicted to contain an open reading frame.
