IFFO1 Geneintermediate filament family orphan 1 This gene is a member of the intermediate filament family. Intermediate filaments are proteins which are primordial components of the cytoskeleton and nuclear envelope. The proteins encoded by the members of this gene family are evolutionarily and structurally related but have limited sequence homology, with the exception of the central rod domain. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010] |
IFFO2 Geneintermediate filament family orphan 2 Predicted to be located in intermediate filament. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
PHOSPHO2 Genephosphatase, orphan 2 Predicted to enable phosphatase activity. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
PHOSPHO1 Genephosphatase, orphan 1 Enables phosphocholine phosphatase activity; phosphoethanolamine phosphatase activity; and pyrophosphatase activity. Predicted to be involved in bone mineralization involved in bone maturation. Predicted to act upstream of or within endochondral ossification. Predicted to be located in cytosol. Predicted to be active in extracellular membrane-bounded organelle. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
RORC GeneRAR-related orphan receptor C The protein encoded by this gene is a DNA-binding transcription factor and is a member of the NR1 subfamily of nuclear hormone receptors. The specific functions of this protein are not known; however, studies of a similar gene in mice have shown that this gene may be essential for lymphoid organogenesis and may play an important regulatory role in thymopoiesis. In addition, studies in mice suggest that the protein encoded by this gene may inhibit the expression of Fas ligand and IL2. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
RORB GeneRAR-related orphan receptor B The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the NR1 subfamily of nuclear hormone receptors. It is a DNA-binding protein that can bind as a monomer or as a homodimer to hormone response elements upstream of several genes to enhance the expression of those genes. The encoded protein has been shown to interact with NM23-2, a nucleoside diphosphate kinase involved in organogenesis and differentiation, and to help regulate the expression of some genes involved in circadian rhythm. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2014] |
RORA GeneRAR-related orphan receptor A The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the NR1 subfamily of nuclear hormone receptors. It can bind as a monomer or as a homodimer to hormone response elements upstream of several genes to enhance the expression of those genes. The encoded protein has been shown to interact with NM23-2, a nucleoside diphosphate kinase involved in organogenesis and differentiation, as well as with NM23-1, the product of a tumor metastasis suppressor candidate gene. Also, it has been shown to aid in the transcriptional regulation of some genes involved in circadian rhythm. Four transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. ROR2 Genereceptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor 2 The protein encoded by this gene is a receptor protein tyrosine kinase and type I transmembrane protein that belongs to the ROR subfamily of cell surface receptors. The protein may be involved in the early formation of the chondrocytes and may be required for cartilage and growth plate development. Mutations in this gene can cause brachydactyly type B, a skeletal disorder characterized by hypoplasia/aplasia of distal phalanges and nails. In addition, mutations in this gene can cause the autosomal recessive form of Robinow syndrome, which is characterized by skeletal dysplasia with generalized limb bone shortening, segmental defects of the spine, brachydactyly, and a dysmorphic facial appearance. ROR1 Genereceptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor 1 This gene encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor that modulates neurite growth in the central nervous system. The encoded protein is a glycosylated type I membrane protein that belongs to the ROR subfamily of cell surface receptors. It is a pseudokinase that lacks catalytic activity and may interact with the non-canonical Wnt signalling pathway. This gene is highly expressed during early embryonic development but expressed at very low levels in adult tissues. Increased expression of this gene is associated with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Involved in several processes, including DNA repair; cellular response to radiation; and regulation of cell cycle process. Located in chromosome and nucleus. Is active in chromatin and site of double-strand break. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
