Name

PKHD1L1 Gene

polycystic kidney and hepatic disease 1 (autosomal recessive)-like 1

Predicted to enable signaling receptor activity. Predicted to be involved in immune response. Predicted to act upstream of or within sensory perception of sound. Predicted to be located in cytosol; extracellular space; and membrane. Implicated in autosomal recessive nonsyndromic deafness. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

HEPACAM Gene

hepatic and glial cell adhesion molecule

The protein encoded by this gene is a single-pass type I membrane protein that localizes to the cytoplasmic side of the cell membrane. The encoded protein acts as a homodimer and is involved in cell motility and cell-matrix interactions. The expression of this gene is downregulated or undetectable in many cancer cell lines, so this may be a tumor suppressor gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2011]

LOC100422315 Gene

HLF Gene

hepatic leukemia factor

This gene encodes a member of the proline and acidic-rich (PAR) protein family, a subset of the bZIP transcription factors. The encoded protein forms homodimers or heterodimers with other PAR family members and binds sequence-specific promoter elements to activate transcription. Chromosomal translocations fusing portions of this gene with the E2A gene cause a subset of childhood B-lineage acute lymphoid leukemias. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, but their biological validity has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

LIPC Gene

lipase, hepatic

Enables phospholipase A1 activity and triacylglycerol lipase activity. Involved in several processes, including cholesterol homeostasis; plasma lipoprotein particle remodeling; and triglyceride catabolic process. Located in extracellular space. Implicated in several diseases, including Alzheimer's disease; coronary artery disease; familial combined hyperlipidemia; peripheral vascular disease; and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Biomarker of hyperinsulinism; obesity; and type 1 diabetes mellitus. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

PABPC4 Gene

poly(A) binding protein, cytoplasmic 4 (inducible form)

Poly(A)-binding proteins (PABPs) bind to the poly(A) tail present at the 3-prime ends of most eukaryotic mRNAs. PABPC4 or IPABP (inducible PABP) was isolated as an activation-induced T-cell mRNA encoding a protein. Activation of T cells increased PABPC4 mRNA levels in T cells approximately 5-fold. PABPC4 contains 4 RNA-binding domains and proline-rich C terminus. PABPC4 is localized primarily to the cytoplasm. It is suggested that PABPC4 might be necessary for regulation of stability of labile mRNA species in activated T cells. PABPC4 was also identified as an antigen, APP1 (activated-platelet protein-1), expressed on thrombin-activated rabbit platelets. PABPC4 may also be involved in the regulation of protein translation in platelets and megakaryocytes or may participate in the binding or stabilization of polyadenylates in platelet dense granules. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. This protein has also been found to interact with coronavirus nucleocapsid proteins and is thought to inhibit coronavirus replication. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2021]

PKHD1 Gene

polycystic kidney and hepatic disease 1 (autosomal recessive)

The protein encoded by this gene is predicted to have a single transmembrane (TM)-spanning domain and multiple copies of an immunoglobulin-like plexin-transcription-factor domain. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Other alternatively spliced transcripts have been described, but the full length sequences have not been determined. Several of these transcripts are predicted to encode truncated products which lack the TM and may be secreted. Mutations in this gene cause autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease, also known as polycystic kidney and hepatic disease-1. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
