LLGL2 Genelethal giant larvae homolog 2 (Drosophila) The lethal (2) giant larvae protein of Drosophila plays a role in asymmetric cell division, epithelial cell polarity, and cell migration. This human gene encodes a protein similar to lethal (2) giant larvae of Drosophila. In fly, the protein's ability to localize cell fate determinants is regulated by the atypical protein kinase C (aPKC). In human, this protein interacts with aPKC-containing complexes and is cortically localized in mitotic cells. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. LLGL1 Genelethal giant larvae homolog 1 (Drosophila) This gene encodes a protein that is similar to a tumor suppressor in Drosophila. The protein is part of a cytoskeletal network and is associated with nonmuscle myosin II heavy chain and a kinase that specifically phosphorylates this protein at serine residues. The gene is located within the Smith-Magenis syndrome region on chromosome 17. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
MSL3P1 Genemale-specific lethal 3 homolog (Drosophila) pseudogene 1 Predicted to be involved in chromatin organization and regulation of DNA-templated transcription. Predicted to be located in nucleus. Predicted to be part of MSL complex and NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
MSL2 Genemale-specific lethal 2 homolog (Drosophila) Enables histone H2B ubiquitin ligase activity. Involved in DNA damage response and protein monoubiquitination. Part of MSL complex and nucleus. Is active in chromatin. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
MSL3 Genemale-specific lethal 3 homolog (Drosophila) This gene encodes a nuclear protein that is similar to the product of the Drosophila male-specific lethal-3 gene. The Drosophila protein plays a critical role in a dosage-compensation pathway, which equalizes X-linked gene expression in males and females. Thus, the human protein is thought to play a similar function in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation, and it has been found as part of a complex that is responsible for histone H4 lysine-16 acetylation. This gene can undergo X inactivation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 2, 7 and 8. MSL1 Genemale-specific lethal 1 homolog (Drosophila) Enables protein-macromolecule adaptor activity. Involved in positive regulation of DNA-templated transcription. Located in nucleoplasm. Part of MSL complex. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
