ZBED4 Genezinc finger, BED-type containing 4 Enables identical protein binding activity. Predicted to be involved in positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in cytoplasm and nucleoplasm. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
ZBED1 Genezinc finger, BED-type containing 1 This gene is located in the pseudoautosomal region 1 (PAR1) of X and Y chromosomes. It was earlier identified as a gene with similarity to Ac transposable elements, however, was found not to have transposase activity. Later studies show that this gene product is localized in the nucleus and functions as a transcription factor. It binds to DNA elements found in the promoter regions of several genes related to cell proliferation, such as histone H1, hence may have a role in regulating genes related to cell proliferation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants with different 5' untranslated region have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010] |
ZBED2 Genezinc finger, BED-type containing 2 Enables DNA-binding transcription repressor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific and RNA polymerase II transcription regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding activity. Involved in negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II and positive regulation of keratinocyte differentiation. Predicted to be located in chromatin. ZBED3 Genezinc finger, BED-type containing 3 This gene belongs to a class of genes that arose through hAT DNA transposition and that encode regulatory proteins. This gene is upregulated in lung cancer tissues, where the encoded protein causes an accumulation of beta-catenin and enhanced lung cancer cell invasion. In addition, the encoded protein can be secreted and be involved in resistance to insulin. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016] |
ZBED5 Genezinc finger, BED-type containing 5 This gene is unusual in that its coding sequence is mostly derived from Charlie-like DNA transposon; however, it does not appear to be an active DNA transposon as it is not flanked by terminal inverted repeats. The encoded protein is conserved among the mammalian Laurasiatheria branch. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2009] |
ZBED6 Genezinc finger, BED-type containing 6 The protein encoded by this transposon-derived intronless gene is a transcriptional repressor that binds to the consensus sequence 5'-GCTCGC-3'. The encoded protein has been shown to repress IGF2 transcription. This gene is located within the first intron of the ZC3H11A gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016] |
ZBED8 Genezinc finger, BED-type containing 8 Located in nucleoplasm. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
ZBED9 Genezinc finger, BED-type containing 9 Predicted to enable nucleic acid binding activity. Involved in positive regulation of cell cycle and positive regulation of epithelial cell proliferation. Located in cytoplasm. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
