Name

FSHB Gene

follicle stimulating hormone, beta polypeptide

The pituitary glycoprotein hormone family includes follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, chorionic gonadotropin, and thyroid-stimulating hormone. All of these glycoproteins consist of an identical alpha subunit and a hormone-specific beta subunit. This gene encodes the beta subunit of follicle-stimulating hormone. In conjunction with luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone induces egg and sperm production. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding the same protein. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

FSHR Gene

follicle stimulating hormone receptor

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to family 1 of G-protein coupled receptors. It is the receptor for follicle stimulating hormone and functions in gonad development. Mutations in this gene cause ovarian dysgenesis type 1, and also ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

GCSAML Gene

germinal center-associated, signaling and motility-like

This gene encodes a protein thought to be a signaling molecule associated with germinal centers, the sites of proliferation and differentiation of mature B lymphocytes. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]

NUGGC Gene

nuclear GTPase, germinal center associated

Enables GTPase activity. Involved in cellular response to lipopolysaccharide; negative regulation of apoptotic process; and regulation of nuclear cell cycle DNA replication. Predicted to be located in nuclear speck. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

XIC Gene

X chromosome inactivation center

GCSAM Gene

germinal center-associated, signaling and motility

This gene encodes a protein which may function in signal transduction pathways and whose expression is elevated in germinal cell lymphomas. It contains a putative PDZ-interacting domain, an immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM), and two putative SH2 binding sites. In B cells, its expression is specifically induced by interleukin-4. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

SNORC Gene

secondary ossification center associated regulator of chondrocyte maturation

Predicted to be involved in cartilage development. Predicted to be located in several cellular components, including collagen-containing extracellular matrix; cytoplasm; and extracellular region. Predicted to be active in cell periphery. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

CMM Gene

cutaneous malignant melanoma/dysplastic nevus

Malignant melanoma is a malignant neoplasm of melanocytes, arising de novo or from a pre-existing benign nevus, which occurs most often in the skin but also may involve other sites.[supplied by OMIM, Jul 2002]

CTAGE1 Gene

cutaneous T-cell lymphoma-associated antigen 1

Predicted to be involved in endoplasmic reticulum to Golgi vesicle-mediated transport; protein secretion; and vesicle cargo loading. Predicted to be located in membrane. Predicted to be active in endoplasmic reticulum exit site and endoplasmic reticulum membrane. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

MYD88 Gene

myeloid differentiation primary response 88

This gene encodes a cytosolic adapter protein that plays a central role in the innate and adaptive immune response. This protein functions as an essential signal transducer in the interleukin-1 and Toll-like receptor signaling pathways. These pathways regulate that activation of numerous proinflammatory genes. The encoded protein consists of an N-terminal death domain and a C-terminal Toll-interleukin1 receptor domain. Patients with defects in this gene have an increased susceptibility to pyogenic bacterial infections. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2010]

This gene in mouse encodes a protein that may be involved in the generation and maintenance of ciliated cells. In mouse, expression of this gene increases during ciliated cell differentiation, and disruption of this gene has been linked to primary ciliary dyskinesia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]
