LHPP Gene

phospholysine phosphohistidine inorganic pyrophosphate phosphatase

Enables inorganic diphosphate phosphatase activity and protein homodimerization activity. Involved in phosphate-containing compound metabolic process. Located in cytosol and nuclear speck. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

PPAT Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate amidotransferase

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the purine/pyrimidine phosphoribosyltransferase family. It is a regulatory allosteric enzyme that catalyzes the first step of de novo purine nucleotide biosythetic pathway. This gene and PAICS/AIRC gene, a bifunctional enzyme catalyzing steps six and seven of this pathway, are located in close proximity on chromosome 4, and divergently transcribed from an intergenic region. NUS1 Gene

nuclear undecaprenyl pyrophosphate synthase 1 homolog (S. cerevisiae)

This gene encodes a type I single transmembrane domain receptor, which is a subunit of cis-prenyltransferase, and serves as a specific receptor for the neural and cardiovascular regulator Nogo-B. The encoded protein is essential for dolichol synthesis and protein glycosylation. This gene is highly expressed in non-small cell lung carcinomas as well as estrogen receptor-alpha positive breast cancer cells where it promotes epithelial mesenchymal transition. This gene is associated with the poor prognosis of human hepatocellular carcinoma patients. Naturally occurring mutations in this gene cause a congenital disorder of glycosylation and are associated with epilepsy. A knockout of the orthologous gene in mice causes embryonic lethality before day 6.5. Pseudogenes of this gene have been defined on chromosomes 13 and X. [provided by RefSeq, May 2017]

PRPS1P2 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 1 pseudogene 2

LOC100421308 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 2 pseudogene

PRPS1P1 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 1 pseudogene 1

ANKH Gene

ANKH inorganic pyrophosphate transport regulator

This gene encodes a multipass transmembrane protein that is expressed in joints and other tissues and controls pyrophosphate levels in cultured cells. Progressive ankylosis-mediated control of pyrophosphate levels has been suggested as a possible mechanism regulating tissue calcification and susceptibility to arthritis in higher animals. Mutations in this gene have been associated with autosomal dominant craniometaphyseal dysplasia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

PRPS2 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 2

This gene encodes a phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase that plays a central role in the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines. The encoded protein catalyzes the synthesis of 5-phosphoribosyl 1-pyrophosphate from ATP and D-ribose 5-phosphate. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

PRPS1 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 1

This gene encodes an enzyme that catalyzes the phosphoribosylation of ribose 5-phosphate to 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate, which is necessary for purine metabolism and nucleotide biosynthesis. Defects in this gene are a cause of phosphoribosylpyrophosphate synthetase superactivity, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease X-linked recessive type 5 and Arts Syndrome. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]

LOC100421294 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 2 pseudogene

LOC100130673 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 2 pseudogene

SLC25A19 Gene

solute carrier family 25 (mitochondrial thiamine pyrophosphate carrier), member 19

This gene encodes a mitochondrial protein that is a member of the solute carrier family. Although this protein was initially thought to be the mitochondrial deoxynucleotide carrier involved in the uptake of deoxynucleotides into the matrix of the mitochondria, further studies have demonstrated that this protein instead functions as the mitochondrial thiamine pyrophosphate carrier, which transports thiamine pyrophosphates into mitochondria. Mutations in this gene cause microcephaly, Amish type, a metabolic disease that results in severe congenital microcephaly, severe 2-ketoglutaric aciduria, and death within the first year. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

CCAL1 Gene

chondrocalcinosis 1 (calcium pyrophosphate-deposition disease, early onset osteoarthritis)

PRPS1L1 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 1-like 1

This intronless gene is specifically expressed in the testis, and encodes a protein that is highly homologous to the two subunits of phosphoribosylpyrophosphate synthetase encoded by human X-linked genes, PRPS1 and PRPS2. These enzymes convert pyrimidine, purine or pyridine bases to the corresponding ribonucleoside monophosphates. In vitro transcription/translation and site-directed mutagenesis studies indicate that translation of this mRNA initiates exclusively at a non-AUG (ACG) codon. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

LOC285232 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate amidotransferase pseudogene

PPATP1 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate amidotransferase pseudogene 1

PRPSAP1 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase-associated protein 1

Enables identical protein binding activity. Predicted to be involved in 5-phosphoribose 1-diphosphate biosynthetic process and purine nucleotide biosynthetic process. Predicted to be active in cytoplasm. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

PRPSAP2 Gene

phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase-associated protein 2

This gene encodes a protein that associates with the enzyme phosphoribosylpyrophosphate synthetase (PRS). PRS catalyzes the formation of phosphoribosylpyrophosphate which is a substrate for synthesis of purine and pyrimidine nucleotides, histidine, tryptophan and NAD. PRS exists as a complex with two catalytic subunits and two associated subunits. This gene encodes a non-catalytic associated subunit of PRS. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
