TULP2 Genetubby like protein 2 TULP2 is a member of a family of tubby-like genes (TULPs) that encode proteins of unknown function. Members of this family have been identified in plants, vertebrates, and invertebrates. The TULP proteins share a conserved C-terminal region of approximately 200 amino acid residues. TULP3 Genetubby like protein 3 This gene encodes a member of the tubby gene family of bipartite transcription factors. Members of this family have been identified in plants, vertebrates, and invertebrates, and they share a conserved N-terminal transcription activation region and a conserved C-terminal DNA and phosphatidylinositol-phosphate binding region. The encoded protein binds to phosphoinositides in the plasma membrane via its C-terminal region and probably functions as a membrane-bound transcription regulator that translocates to the nucleus in response to phosphoinositide hydrolysis, for instance, induced by G-protein-coupled-receptor signaling. It plays an important role in neuronal development and function. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2009] |
TULP1 Genetubby like protein 1 This gene encodes a member of the tubby-like gene family (TULPs). Members of this family have been identified in plants, vertebrates, and invertebrates. TULP proteins share a conserved C-terminal region of approximately 200 amino acid residues. The protein encoded by this gene is thought to play a role in the physiology of photoreceptors. Mutations in this gene are associated with recessive juvenile retinitis pigmentosa and Leber congenital amaurosis-15. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2016] |
TULP4 Genetubby like protein 4 Predicted to be involved in protein ubiquitination. Located in cytoplasm. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
TUB Genetubby bipartite transcription factor This gene encodes a member of the Tubby family of bipartite transcription factors. The encoded protein may play a role in obesity and sensorineural degradation. The crystal structure has been determined for a similar protein in mouse, and it functions as a membrane-bound transcription regulator that translocates to the nucleus in response to phosphoinositide hydrolysis. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
