Name

CCSAP Gene

centriole, cilia and spindle-associated protein

Enables microtubule binding activity. Involved in mitotic spindle microtubule depolymerization and regulation of mitotic spindle assembly. Located in axon; ciliary transition zone; and cytoskeleton. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

SPATC1L Gene

spermatogenesis and centriole associated 1-like

Enables identical protein binding activity. Predicted to be involved in spermatogenesis. Predicted to act upstream of or within actin polymerization or depolymerization; positive regulation of cAMP-dependent protein kinase activity; and positive regulation of cAMP/PKA signal transduction. Predicted to be active in centrosome and sperm head-tail coupling apparatus. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

SPICE1 Gene

spindle and centriole associated protein 1

Involved in metaphase chromosome alignment; mitotic spindle assembly; and regulation of centriole replication. Located in centriole; centrosome; and spindle. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

SPATC1 Gene

spermatogenesis and centriole associated 1

Predicted to enable gamma-tubulin binding activity. Located in centrosome. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

CPAP Gene

centrosome assembly and centriole elongation protein

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the centromere protein family. During cell division, this protein plays a structural role in the maintenance of centrosome integrity and normal spindle morphology, and it is involved in microtubule disassembly at the centrosome. This protein can function as a transcriptional coactivator in the Stat5 signaling pathway, and also as a coactivator of NF-kappaB-mediated transcription, likely via its interaction with the coactivator p300/CREB-binding protein. Mutations in this gene are associated with primary autosomal recessive microcephaly, a disorder characterized by severely reduced brain size and cognitive disability. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2012]
