DIS3 Gene

DIS3 exosome endoribonuclease and 3'-5' exoribonuclease

Enables 3'-5'-RNA exonuclease activity; endonuclease activity; and guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity. Involved in CUT catabolic process; RNA processing; and rRNA catabolic process. Located in cytosol and nucleoplasm. Part of nuclear exosome (RNase complex). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

DXO Gene

decapping exoribonuclease

This gene localizes to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class III region on chromosome 6. The function of its protein product is unknown, but its ubiquitous expression and conservation in both simple and complex eukaryotes suggests that this may be a housekeeping gene. DIS3L2P1 Gene

DIS3 like 3'-5' exoribonuclease 2 pseudogene 1

DIS3L Gene

DIS3 like exosome 3'-5' exoribonuclease

The cytoplasmic RNA exosome complex degrades unstable mRNAs and is involved in the regular turnover of other mRNAs. The protein encoded by this gene contains 3'-5' exoribonuclease activity and is a catalytic component of this complex. [provided by RefSeq, May 2016]

DIS3L2 Gene

DIS3 like 3'-5' exoribonuclease 2

The protein encoded by this gene is similar in sequence to 3'/5' exonucleolytic subunits of the RNA exosome. The exosome is a large multimeric ribonucleotide complex responsible for degrading various RNA substrates. Several transcript variants, some protein-coding and some not, have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2012]

ERI2 Gene

ERI1 exoribonuclease family member 2

Predicted to enable 3'-5'-RNA exonuclease activity. Predicted to be involved in exonucleolytic trimming to generate mature 3'-end of 5.8S rRNA from tricistronic rRNA transcript (SSU-rRNA, 5.8S rRNA, LSU-rRNA). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

ERI3 Gene

ERI1 exoribonuclease family member 3

Enables RNA binding activity.

ERI1 Gene

exoribonuclease 1

Enables 3'-5' exonuclease activity. Involved in maturation of 5.8S rRNA. Located in cytoplasm and nucleolus. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

XRN1 Gene

5'-3' exoribonuclease 1

This gene encodes a member of the 5'-3' exonuclease family. The encoded protein may be involved in replication-dependent histone mRNA degradation, and interacts directly with the enhancer of mRNA-decapping protein 4. In addition to mRNA metabolism, a similar protein in yeast has been implicated in a variety of nuclear and cytoplasmic functions, including homologous recombination, meiosis, telomere maintenance, and microtubule assembly. Mutations in this gene are associated with osteosarcoma, suggesting that the encoded protein may also play a role in bone formation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2013]

XRN2 Gene

5'-3' exoribonuclease 2

This gene encodes a 5'-3' exonuclease that promotes transcription termination at cotranscriptional cleavage sites. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]
