GDAP2 Geneganglioside induced differentiation associated protein 2 Predicted to act upstream of or within response to retinoic acid. Located in lysosomal membrane. Implicated in autosomal recessive spinocerebellar ataxia 27. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
GDAP1 Geneganglioside induced differentiation associated protein 1 This gene encodes a member of the ganglioside-induced differentiation-associated protein family, which may play a role in a signal transduction pathway during neuronal development. Mutations in this gene have been associated with various forms of Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease and neuropathy. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms and a noncoding variant have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012] |

GDAP1L1 Geneganglioside induced differentiation associated protein 1-like 1 The ganglioside GD3 synthase causes cell differentiation with neurite sprouting when transfected into the mouse neuroblastoma cell line Neuro2a. After differentiation, the expression of several genes is upregulated, including one that encodes a protein termed ganglioside-induced differentiation-associated protein 1 (Gdap1). A similar gene was found in humans, and mutations in the human gene are associated with Charcot-Marie-Tooth type 4A disease. The protein encoded by this gene is similar in sequence to the human GDAP1 protein. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms, as well as a noncoding transcript variant, have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012] |
GM2A GeneGM2 ganglioside activator This gene encodes a small glycolipid transport protein which acts as a substrate specific co-factor for the lysosomal enzyme beta-hexosaminidase A. Beta-hexosaminidase A, together with GM2 ganglioside activator, catalyzes the degradation of the ganglioside GM2, and other molecules containing terminal N-acetyl hexosamines. Mutations in this gene result in GM2-gangliosidosis type AB or the AB variant of Tay-Sachs disease. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009] |
