SLC15A2 Genesolute carrier family 15 (oligopeptide transporter), member 2 The mammalian kidney expresses a proton-coupled peptide transporter that is responsible for the absorption of small peptides, as well as beta-lactam antibiotics and other peptide-like drugs, from the tubular filtrate. This transporter, SLC15A2, belongs to the same gene family as SLC15A1 (MIM 600544), the proton-coupled peptide transporter found in the small intestine (Liu et al, 1995 [PubMed 7756356]).[supplied by OMIM, Feb 2011] |
SLC15A3 Genesolute carrier family 15 (oligopeptide transporter), member 3 Enables dipeptide transmembrane transporter activity. Involved in dipeptide import across plasma membrane. Located in intracellular membrane-bounded organelle. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
SLC15A1 Genesolute carrier family 15 (oligopeptide transporter), member 1 This gene encodes an intestinal hydrogen peptide cotransporter that is a member of the solute carrier family 15. The encoded protein is localized to the brush border membrane of the intestinal epithelium and mediates the uptake of di- and tripeptides from the lumen into the enterocytes. This protein plays an important role in the uptake and digestion of dietary proteins. This protein also facilitates the absorption of numerous peptidomimetic drugs. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2010] |
SLC15A4 Genesolute carrier family 15 (oligopeptide transporter), member 4 Enables several functions, including L-histidine transmembrane transporter activity; peptide:proton symporter activity; and peptidoglycan transmembrane transporter activity. Involved in dipeptide import across plasma membrane; peptidoglycan transport; and positive regulation of pattern recognition receptor signaling pathway. Located in endolysosome membrane.
