PTDSS1 Genephosphatidylserine synthase 1 The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the formation of phosphatidylserine from either phosphatidylcholine or phosphatidylethanolamine. Phosphatidylserine localizes to the mitochondria-associated membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum, where it serves a structural role as well as a signaling role. Defects in this gene are a cause of Lenz-Majewski hyperostotic dwarfism. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014] |
PTDSS2 Genephosphatidylserine synthase 2 The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the conversion of phosphatidylethanolamine to phosphatidylserine, a structural membrane phospholipid that functions in cell signaling, blood coagulation, and apoptosis. The encoded enzyme also has a high affinity for docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and can use it to make DHA-containing phosphatidylserine. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016] |
PISD Genephosphatidylserine decarboxylase The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the conversion of phosphatidylserine to phosphatidylethanolamine in the inner mitochondrial membrane. The encoded protein is active in phospholipid metabolism and interorganelle trafficking of phosphatidylserine. [provided by RefSeq, May 2016] |
