ANCR Gene

Angelman syndrome chromosome region

Angelman syndrome (AS) is characterized by developmental delay, intellectual disability, movement or balance disorders, seizures, and limitations in speech and language development. Most cases of AS are caused by deletion in the 15q11-q13 region of the maternal chromosome. Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a clinically distinct disorder resulting from paternal deletion of the 15q11-q13 region. Clinical features similar to AS are also shown in chromosome 15q11-q13 duplication syndrome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2017]

PWARSN Gene

Prader Willi/Angelman region RNA, SNRPN neighbor

This gene encodes a novel transcript, and is located in the Prader-Willi syndrome critical region on chromosome 15. This gene is expressed exclusively from the paternal allele. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2017]

PWAR6 Gene

Prader Willi/Angelman region RNA 6

PWAR5 Gene

Prader Willi/Angelman region RNA 5

Predicted to be involved in RNA processing. Predicted to be located in nucleolus. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

PWAR4 Gene

Prader Willi/Angelman region RNA 4

Predicted to be involved in RNA processing. Predicted to be located in nucleolus. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

PWAR1 Gene

Prader Willi/Angelman region RNA 1

NIPA2 Gene

non imprinted in Prader-Willi/Angelman syndrome 2

This gene encodes a possible magnesium transporter. This gene is located adjacent to the imprinted domain in the Prader-Willi syndrome deletion region of chromosome 15. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosomes 3, 7 and 21.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

NIPA1 Gene

non imprinted in Prader-Willi/Angelman syndrome 1

This gene encodes a magnesium transporter that associates with early endosomes and the cell surface in a variety of neuronal and epithelial cells. This protein may play a role in nervous system development and maintenance. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Mutations in this gene have been associated with autosomal dominant spastic paraplegia 6. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2008]
