NAT9 GeneN-acetyltransferase 9 (GCN5-related, putative) Predicted to enable tubulin N-terminal N-acetyltransferase activity. Part of protein-containing complex. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
NAT8 GeneN-acetyltransferase 8 (GCN5-related, putative) This gene, isolated using the differential display method to detect tissue-specific genes, is specifically expressed in kidney and liver. The encoded protein shows amino acid sequence similarity to N-acetyltransferases. A similar protein in Xenopus affects cell adhesion and gastrulation movements, and may be localized in the secretory pathway. A highly similar paralog is found in a cluster with this gene. NAT6 GeneN-acetyltransferase 6 (GCN5-related) This gene encodes a member of the N-acetyltransferase family. N-acetyltransferases modify proteins by transferring acetyl groups from acetyl CoA to the N-termini of protein substrates. The encoded protein is a cytoplasmic N-acetyltransferase with a substrate specificity for proteins with an N-terminal methionine. This gene is located in the tumor suppressor gene region on chromosome 3p21.3 and the encoded protein may play a role in cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed. This gene overlaps and is on the same strand as hyaluronoglucosaminidase 3, and some transcripts of each gene share a portion of the first exon. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2011] |
NAT16 GeneN-acetyltransferase 16 (GCN5-related, putative) Predicted to enable acyltransferase activity, transferring groups other than amino-acyl groups. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
NAT14 GeneN-acetyltransferase 14 (GCN5-related, putative) Predicted to enable N-acetyltransferase activity. Predicted to be involved in DNA-templated transcription initiation and positive regulation of DNA-templated transcription. Predicted to be located in nucleus. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
NAT10 GeneN-acetyltransferase 10 (GCN5-related) The protein encoded by this gene is an RNA cytidine acetyltransferase involved in histone acetylation, tRNA acetylation, the biosynthesis of 18S rRNA, and the enhancement of nuclear architecture and chromatin organization. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2016] |
NAT8B GeneN-acetyltransferase 8B (GCN5-related, putative, gene/pseudogene) This gene is highly similar to the N-acetyltransferase 8 (NAT8) gene which encodes a kidney and liver protein with homology to bacterial acetyltransferases involved in drug resistance. This gene is localized on chromosome 2 in the vicinity of the NAT8 gene and represents a human-specific transcribed pseudogene of NAT8. This gene contains two common polymorphic nonsense mutations that disrupt the active site of the protein. In the extremely rare event when both nonsense mutations are absent, the predicted protein would contain a complete acetyltransferase domain and would be identical in length to NAT8.
