Name

PCNA Gene

proliferating cell nuclear antigen

The protein encoded by this gene is found in the nucleus and is a cofactor of DNA polymerase delta. The encoded protein acts as a homotrimer and helps increase the processivity of leading strand synthesis during DNA replication. In response to DNA damage, this protein is ubiquitinated and is involved in the RAD6-dependent DNA repair pathway. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. Pseudogenes of this gene have been described on chromosome 4 and on the X chromosome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

PCNA-AS1 Gene

PCNA antisense RNA 1

COLQ Gene

collagen-like tail subunit (single strand of homotrimer) of asymmetric acetylcholinesterase

This gene encodes the subunit of a collagen-like molecule associated with acetylcholinesterase in skeletal muscle. Each molecule is composed of three identical subunits. Each subunit contains a proline-rich attachment domain (PRAD) that binds an acetylcholinesterase tetramer to anchor the catalytic subunit of the enzyme to the basal lamina. Mutations in this gene are associated with endplate acetylcholinesterase deficiency. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. PCLAF Gene

PCNA clamp associated factor

Enables chromatin binding activity and molecular adaptor activity. Involved in several processes, including DNA metabolic process; centrosome cycle; and response to UV. Located in centrosome; nucleus; and perinuclear region of cytoplasm. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]
