Name

LOC440792 Gene

proline dehydrogenase (oxidase) 1 pseudogene

SLC6A20 Gene

solute carrier family 6 (proline IMINO transporter), member 20

Transport of small hydrophilic substances across cell membranes is mediated by substrate-specific transporter proteins which have been classified into several families of related genes. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the sodium:neurotransmitter symporter (SNF) family and functions as a proline transporter expressed in kidney and small intestine. Mutations in this gene are associated with Hyperglycinuria and Iminoglycinuria. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2020]

PROSC Gene

proline synthetase co-transcribed homolog (bacterial)

This gene encodes a pyridoxal 5'-phosphate binding protein involved in the homeostatic regulation of intracellular pyridoxal 5'-phosphate. This gene has a tumor suppressive effect on hepatocellular carcinoma and other solid tumors of epithelial origin. Naturally occurring mutations in this gene are associated with a pyridoxine-dependent epilepsy. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2017]

PSTPIP2 Gene

proline-serine-threonine phosphatase interacting protein 2

Predicted to enable actin filament binding activity. Predicted to be involved in actin filament polymerization. Predicted to be located in cytoskeleton; cytosol; and membrane. Predicted to be active in actin filament; cytoplasm; and plasma membrane. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

PSTPIP1 Gene

proline-serine-threonine phosphatase interacting protein 1

This gene encodes a cytoskeletal protein that is highly expressed in hemopoietic tissues. This protein functions via its interaction with several different proteins involved in cytoskeletal organization and inflammatory processes. It binds to the cytoplasmic tail of CD2, an effector of T cell activation and adhesion, downregulating CD2-triggered adhesion. It binds PEST-type protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTP) and directs them to c-Abl kinase to mediate c-Abl dephosphorylation, thereby, regulating c-Abl activity. It also interacts with pyrin, which is found in association with the cytoskeleton in myeloid/monocytic cells and modulates immunoregulatory functions. Mutations in this gene are associated with PAPA (pyogenic sterile arthritis, pyoderma gangrenosum, and acne) syndrome. It is hypothesized that the disease-causing mutations compromise physiologic signaling necessary for the maintenance of a proper inflammatory response. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2016]

TRNAP-CGG Gene

transfer RNA proline (anticodon CGG)

This record serves to anchor the annotations of this class of tRNAs at multiple locations on the human genome. The placements are predicted using tRNAscan-SE (Lowe, T.M. and Eddy, S.R. 1997. Nucleic Acids Res. 25:955-964, PubMed 9023104).

PRODH Gene

proline dehydrogenase (oxidase) 1

This gene encodes a mitochondrial protein that catalyzes the first step in proline degradation. Mutations in this gene are associated with hyperprolinemia type 1 and susceptibility to schizophrenia 4 (SCZD4). This gene is located on chromosome 22q11.21, a region which has also been associated with the contiguous gene deletion syndromes, DiGeorge and CATCH22. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2010]

TRNAP-UGG Gene

transfer RNA proline (anticodon UGG)

This record serves to anchor the annotations of this class of tRNAs at multiple locations on the human genome. The placements are predicted using tRNAscan-SE (Lowe, T.M. and Eddy, S.R. 1997. Nucleic Acids Res. 25:955-964, PubMed 9023104).

PRODH2 Gene

proline dehydrogenase (oxidase) 2

The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the first step in the catabolism of trans-4-hydroxy-L-proline, an amino acid derivative obtained through food intake and collagen turnover. One of the downstream products of this catabolism is glyoxylate, which in people with disorders of glyoxalate metabolism can lead to an increase in oxalate levels and the formation of calcium-oxalate kidney stones. Therefore, this gene may serve as a therapeutic target against primary hyperoxalurias (PH). This gene is similar to proline dehydrogenase (oxidase) 1, a mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes the first step in proline catabolism. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2017]

LOC102724788 Gene

proline dehydrogenase 1, mitochondrial

PROA Gene

Proline(-) auxotroph, complementation of

TRNAP-AGG Gene

transfer RNA proline (anticodon AGG)

This record serves to anchor the annotations of this class of tRNAs at multiple locations on the human genome. The placements are predicted using tRNAscan-SE (Lowe, T.M. and Eddy, S.R. 1997. Nucleic Acids Res. 25:955-964, PubMed 9023104).
