COMMD1 Gene

copper metabolism (Murr1) domain containing 1

Enables several functions, including phosphatidylinositol-3,4-bisphosphate binding activity; phospholipid binding activity; and protein homodimerization activity. Involved in several processes, including Golgi to plasma membrane transport; negative regulation of protein localization to cell surface; and regulation of protein metabolic process. Acts upstream of or within negative regulation of NF-kappaB transcription factor activity. Located in cytosol; endosome; and nucleoplasm. Part of Cul2-RING ubiquitin ligase complex. DEGS1 Gene

delta(4)-desaturase, sphingolipid 1

This gene encodes a member of the membrane fatty acid desaturase family which is responsible for inserting double bonds into specific positions in fatty acids. This protein contains three His-containing consensus motifs that are characteristic of a group of membrane fatty acid desaturases. It is predicted to be a multiple membrane-spanning protein localized to the endoplasmic reticulum. Overexpression of this gene inhibited biosynthesis of the EGF receptor, suggesting a possible role of a fatty acid desaturase in regulating biosynthetic processing of the EGF receptor. DEGS2 Gene

delta(4)-desaturase, sphingolipid 2

This gene encodes a bifunctional enzyme that is involved in the biosynthesis of phytosphingolipids in human skin and in other phytosphingolipid-containing tissues. This enzyme can act as a sphingolipid delta(4)-desaturase, and also as a sphingolipid C4-hydroxylase. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]

SCAMPER Gene
