DescriptionAnalysis of pancreatic islet beta cells ectopically expressing Aire. Aire promotes T cell tolerance by inducing the expression of genes encoding peripheral tissue antigens in medullary epithelial cells of the thymus. Results provide insight into the specificity of Aire's effect on transcription.
