TAM Gene

Myeloproliferative syndrome, transient (transient abnormal

ASPM Gene

asp (abnormal spindle) homolog, microcephaly associated (Drosophila)

This gene is the human ortholog of the Drosophila melanogaster 'abnormal spindle' gene (asp), which is essential for normal mitotic spindle function in embryonic neuroblasts. Studies in mouse also suggest a role of this gene in mitotic spindle regulation, with a preferential role in regulating neurogenesis. Mutations in this gene are associated with microcephaly primary type 5. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, May 2011]

MAGT1 Gene

magnesium transporter 1

This gene encodes a ubiquitously expressed magnesium cation transporter protein that localizes to the cell membrane. This protein also associates with N-oligosaccharyl transferase and therefore may have a role in N-glycosylation. Mutations in this gene cause a form of X-linked intellectual disability (XLID). This gene may have multiple in-frame translation initiation sites, one of which would encode a shorter protein with an N-terminus containing a signal peptide at amino acids 1-29. MMGT1 Gene

membrane magnesium transporter 1

Contributes to membrane insertase activity. Involved in protein insertion into ER membrane by stop-transfer membrane-anchor sequence and tail-anchored membrane protein insertion into ER membrane. Located in endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Part of EMC complex. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

SLC41A1 Gene

solute carrier family 41 (magnesium transporter), member 1

Enables magnesium:sodium antiporter activity. Involved in cellular response to magnesium ion; intracellular magnesium ion homeostasis; and magnesium ion transmembrane transport. Located in basolateral plasma membrane. Part of protein-containing complex. Implicated in nephronophthisis. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]
