DBX2 Gene

developing brain homeobox 2

Predicted to enable DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific. Predicted to be involved in regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Predicted to act upstream of or within several processes, including G2/M transition of mitotic cell cycle; epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathway; and neural precursor cell proliferation. Predicted to be located in chromatin. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

DBX1 Gene

developing brain homeobox 1

Predicted to enable DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific. Predicted to be involved in cell differentiation in spinal cord and regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Predicted to act upstream of or within ventral spinal cord interneuron specification. Predicted to be located in chromatin. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

DLEC1 Gene

deleted in lung and esophageal cancer 1

The cytogenetic location of this gene is 3p21.3, and it is located in a region that is commonly deleted in a variety of malignancies. Down-regulation of this gene has been observed in several human cancers including lung, esophageal, renal tumors, and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. In some cases, reduced expression of this gene in tumor cells is a result of aberrant promoter methylation. Several alternatively spliced transcripts have been observed that contain disrupted coding regions and likely encode nonfunctional proteins.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2016]

MYCL Gene

v-myc avian myelocytomatosis viral oncogene lung carcinoma derived homolog

Predicted to enable DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific and RNA polymerase II cis-regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding activity. Predicted to be involved in regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Predicted to act upstream of or within regulation of inner ear auditory receptor cell differentiation. Located in chromosome and nucleoplasm. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

MALAT1 Gene

metastasis associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (non-protein coding)

This gene produces a precursor transcript from which a long non-coding RNA is derived by RNase P cleavage of a tRNA-like small ncRNA (known as mascRNA) from its 3' end. The resultant mature transcript lacks a canonical poly(A) tail but is instead stabilized by a 3' triple helical structure. This transcript is retained in the nucleus where it is thought to form molecular scaffolds for ribonucleoprotein complexes. It may act as a transcriptional regulator for numerous genes, including some genes involved in cancer metastasis and cell migration, and it is involved in cell cycle regulation. Its upregulation in multiple cancerous tissues has been associated with the proliferation and metastasis of tumor cells. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2015]

COX4I2 Gene

cytochrome c oxidase subunit IV isoform 2 (lung)

Cytochrome c oxidase (COX), the terminal enzyme of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, catalyzes the electron transfer from reduced cytochrome c to oxygen. It is a heteromeric complex consisting of 3 catalytic subunits encoded by mitochondrial genes and multiple structural subunits encoded by nuclear genes. The mitochondrially-encoded subunits function in electron transfer, and the nuclear-encoded subunits may be involved in the regulation and assembly of the complex. This nuclear gene encodes isoform 2 of subunit IV. Isoform 1 of subunit IV is encoded by a different gene, however, the two genes show a similar structural organization. Subunit IV is the largest nuclear encoded subunit which plays a pivotal role in COX regulation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
