LOC57399 Geneuncharacterized gastric protein ZA52P |
GIF Genegastric intrinsic factor (vitamin B synthesis) This gene is a member of the cobalamin transport protein family. It encodes a glycoprotein secreted by parietal cells of the gastric mucosa and is required for adequate absorption of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is necessary for erythrocyte maturation and mutations in this gene may lead to congenital pernicious anemia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
GHET1 Genegastric carcinoma proliferation enhancing transcript 1 This gene encodes an unspliced long non-coding RNA that has been suggested to promote the proliferation of gastric carcinoma cells and bladder cancer cells. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2014] |
GAPLINC Genegastric adenocarcinoma associated, positive CD44 regulator, long intergenic non-coding RNA |
GIP Genegastric inhibitory polypeptide This gene encodes an incretin hormone and belongs to the glucagon superfamily. The encoded protein is important in maintaining glucose homeostasis as it is a potent stimulator of insulin secretion from pancreatic beta-cells following food ingestion and nutrient absorption. This gene stimulates insulin secretion via its G protein-coupled receptor activation of adenylyl cyclase and other signal transduction pathways. It is a relatively poor inhibitor of gastric acid secretion. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
LIPF Genelipase, gastric This gene encodes gastric lipase, an enzyme involved in the digestion of dietary triglycerides in the gastrointestinal tract, and responsible for 30% of fat digestion processes occurring in human. It is secreted by gastric chief cells in the fundic mucosa of the stomach, and it hydrolyzes the ester bonds of triglycerides under acidic pH conditions. The gene is a member of a conserved gene family of lipases that play distinct roles in neutral lipid metabolism. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010] |
GIPR Genegastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor This gene encodes a G-protein coupled receptor for gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP), which was originally identified as an activity in gut extracts that inhibited gastric acid secretion and gastrin release, but subsequently was demonstrated to stimulate insulin release in the presence of elevated glucose. Mice lacking this gene exhibit higher blood glucose levels with impaired initial insulin response after oral glucose load. Defect in this gene thus may contribute to the pathogenesis of diabetes. MYD88 Genemyeloid differentiation primary response 88 This gene encodes a cytosolic adapter protein that plays a central role in the innate and adaptive immune response. This protein functions as an essential signal transducer in the interleukin-1 and Toll-like receptor signaling pathways. These pathways regulate that activation of numerous proinflammatory genes. The encoded protein consists of an N-terminal death domain and a C-terminal Toll-interleukin1 receptor domain. Patients with defects in this gene have an increased susceptibility to pyogenic bacterial infections. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2010] |

DPCD Genedeleted in primary ciliary dyskinesia homolog (mouse) This gene in mouse encodes a protein that may be involved in the generation and maintenance of ciliated cells. In mouse, expression of this gene increases during ciliated cell differentiation, and disruption of this gene has been linked to primary ciliary dyskinesia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016] |
