Name

SPON2 Gene

spondin 2, extracellular matrix protein

Predicted to enable antigen binding activity; lipopolysaccharide binding activity; and metal ion binding activity. Predicted to be involved in cell adhesion. Predicted to act upstream of or within several processes, including defense response to other organism; opsonization; and positive regulation of cytokine production. Located in extracellular exosome. Biomarker of meningioma. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

SPON1 Gene

spondin 1, extracellular matrix protein

Predicted to enable LBD domain binding activity and metal ion binding activity. Predicted to be an extracellular matrix structural constituent. Predicted to be involved in cell adhesion. Predicted to act upstream of or within negative regulation of amyloid-beta formation; positive regulation of amyloid precursor protein catabolic process; and positive regulation of protein processing. Located in collagen-containing extracellular matrix and extracellular space. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

RSPO3 Gene

R-spondin 3

This gene belongs to the R-spondin family. The encoded protein plays a role in the regulation of Wnt (wingless-type MMTV integration site family)/beta-catenin and Wnt/planar cell polarity (PCP) signaling pathways, which are involved in development, cell growth and disease pathogenesis. Genome-wide association studies suggest a correlation of this gene with bone mineral density and risk of fracture. This gene may be involved in tumor development. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

RSPO2 Gene

R-spondin 2

This gene encodes a member of the R-spondin family of proteins. These proteins are secreted ligands of leucine-rich repeat containing G protein-coupled receptors that enhance Wnt signaling through the inhibition of ubiquitin E3 ligases. A chromosomal translocation including this locus that results in the formation of a gene fusion has been identified in multiple human cancers. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]

RSPO1 Gene

R-spondin 1

This gene encodes a secreted activator protein with two cysteine-rich, furin-like domains and one thrombospondin type 1 domain. The encoded protein is a ligand for leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein coupled receptors (LGR proteins) and positively regulates the Wnt signaling pathway. In mice, the protein induces the rapid onset of crypt cell proliferation and increases intestinal epithelial healing, providing a protective effect against chemotherapy-induced adverse effects. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2014]

SSPO Gene

SCO-spondin

Predicted to enable peptidase inhibitor activity. Predicted to be involved in cell adhesion. Predicted to be located in cytoplasm. Predicted to be active in extracellular matrix and extracellular space. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]

RSPO4 Gene

R-spondin 4

This gene encodes a member of the R-spondin family of proteins that share a common domain organization consisting of a signal peptide, cysteine-rich/furin-like domain, thrombospondin domain and a C-terminal basic region. The encoded protein may be involved in activation of Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathways. Mutations in this gene are associated with anonychia congenital. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

SSPOP Gene

SCO-spondin, pseudogene

Predicted to enable peptidase inhibitor activity. Predicted to be involved in cell adhesion. Predicted to be located in cytoplasm. Predicted to be active in extracellular matrix and extracellular space. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025]
