TCAP Genetitin-cap Sarcomere assembly is regulated by the muscle protein titin. Titin is a giant elastic protein with kinase activity that extends half the length of a sarcomere. It serves as a scaffold to which myofibrils and other muscle related proteins are attached. This gene encodes a protein found in striated and cardiac muscle that binds to the titin Z1-Z2 domains and is a substrate of titin kinase, interactions thought to be critical to sarcomere assembly. Mutations in this gene are associated with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2G. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
CAP1 GeneCAP, adenylate cyclase-associated protein 1 (yeast) The protein encoded by this gene is related to the S. cerevisiae CAP protein, which is involved in the cyclic AMP pathway. The human protein is able to interact with other molecules of the same protein, as well as with CAP2 and actin. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2016] |
CAP2 GeneCAP, adenylate cyclase-associated protein, 2 (yeast) This gene was identified by its similarity to the gene for human adenylyl cyclase-associated protein. The function of the protein encoded by this gene is unknown. However, the protein appears to be able to interact with adenylyl cyclase-associated protein and actin. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
CMTR2 Genecap methyltransferase 2 Enables mRNA (nucleoside-2'-O-)-methyltransferase activity. Involved in 7-methylguanosine mRNA capping. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
CMTR1 Genecap methyltransferase 1 Enables mRNA (nucleoside-2'-O-)-methyltransferase activity. Involved in 7-methylguanosine mRNA capping. Located in nucleoplasm. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
NCBP1 Genenuclear cap binding protein subunit 1, 80kDa The product of this gene is a component of the nuclear cap-binding protein complex (CBC), which binds to the monomethylated 5' cap of nascent pre-mRNA in the nucleoplasm. The encoded protein promotes high-affinity mRNA-cap binding and associates with the CTD of RNA polymerase II. The CBC promotes pre-mRNA splicing, 3'-end processing, RNA nuclear export, and nonsense-mediated mRNA decay. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
NCBP2 Genenuclear cap binding protein subunit 2, 20kDa The product of this gene is a component of the nuclear cap-binding protein complex (CBC), which binds to the monomethylated 5' cap of nascent pre-mRNA in the nucleoplasm. The encoded protein has an RNP domain commonly found in RNA binding proteins, and contains the cap-binding activity. The CBC promotes pre-mRNA splicing, 3'-end processing, RNA nuclear export, and nonsense-mediated mRNA decay. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
NCBP2L Genenuclear cap binding protein subunit 2-like Predicted to enable RNA cap binding activity. Predicted to be involved in mRNA splicing, via spliceosome. Predicted to be part of nuclear cap binding activity complex. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
CLIP3 GeneCAP-GLY domain containing linker protein 3 This gene encodes a member of the cytoplasmic linker protein 170 family. Members of this protein family contain a cytoskeleton-associated protein glycine-rich domain and mediate the interaction of microtubules with cellular organelles. The encoded protein plays a role in T cell apoptosis by facilitating the association of tubulin and the lipid raft ganglioside GD3. The encoded protein also functions as a scaffold protein mediating membrane localization of phosphorylated protein kinase B. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010] |
CLIP2 GeneCAP-GLY domain containing linker protein 2 The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the family of cytoplasmic linker proteins, which have been proposed to mediate the interaction between specific membranous organelles and microtubules. This protein was found to associate with both microtubules and an organelle called the dendritic lamellar body. This gene is hemizygously deleted in Williams syndrome, a multisystem developmental disorder caused by the deletion of contiguous genes at 7q11.23. Alternative splicing of this gene generates 2 transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
CLIP1 GeneCAP-GLY domain containing linker protein 1 The protein encoded by this gene links endocytic vesicles to microtubules. This gene is highly expressed in Reed-Sternberg cells of Hodgkin disease. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011] |
CLIP4 GeneCAP-GLY domain containing linker protein family, member 4 Predicted to enable microtubule plus-end binding activity. Predicted to be involved in cytoplasmic microtubule organization. Located in intracellular membrane-bounded organelle. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Mar 2025] |
NCBP3 Genenuclear cap binding subunit 3 Enables RNA 7-methylguanosine cap binding activity and mRNA binding activity. Involved in defense response to virus; mRNA export from nucleus; and snRNA export from nucleus. Located in cytoplasm and nuclear speck. Part of nuclear cap binding activity complex.
